Processing status
When you upload a document, it goes through several processing stages before becoming searchable.
Status flow
Upload → Processing → Ready
↓
Failed (if error)
When does processing happen?
- New documents: Processing starts immediately after upload
- Edited documents: Processing starts only when you click Publish (not when saving drafts)

Status meanings
Uploading
The file is being transferred to Synjar's secure storage.
What's happening:
- File upload to cloud storage
- Initial validation
Duration: Depends on file size and connection speed
Processing
AI is analyzing and indexing your document content.
What's happening:
- Text extraction
- Content chunking
- Embedding generation
- Index creation
Duration: 30-60 seconds for most documents
Ready
Document is fully processed and searchable.
You can now:
- Search the document content
- Include in instruction sets
- Use in search links
Failed
Processing encountered an error.
Common causes:
- Corrupted file
- Unsupported format
- Empty content
- Password protection
What to do:
- Check the error message
- Fix the issue with your file
- Re-upload the document
Processing time estimates

Viewing status
In your workspace:
- List view shows status badge for each document
- Filter by status to find processing or failed documents
- Click a document to see detailed status
Troubleshooting
Stuck in "Processing"
If processing takes longer than 5 minutes:
- Refresh the page
- Check if status updated
- If still processing, contact support
"Failed" status
- Check the error message
- Common fixes:
- Convert scanned PDFs to text-based
- Remove password protection
- Save in supported format
- Re-upload the corrected file
Document not appearing in search
Even after "Ready" status:
- Allow 1-2 minutes for index propagation
- Try refreshing and searching again
- Verify the document contains relevant text
